Protimeter TimberMaster BLD5675 Overview

The Protimeter TimberMaster BLD5675 is a professional pin-type moisture meter developed specifically for timber and wood products. Unlike general building moisture meters that divide their attention across many materials, the TimberMaster is focused on wood quality control and moisture assessment where species, moisture range and repeatability matter.

This makes it relevant to woodworking, timber processing and hardwood-flooring workflows where the moisture condition of the wood can influence machining, finishing, dimensional stability and installation performance.

Pin Moisture Measurement for Wood

The TimberMaster provides pin measurements from 6% to 99% moisture content in wood. Protimeter notes that readings above 30% are relative, while the lower part of the scale is intended for quantitative wood moisture measurement.

Pin measurement concentrates the reading around the electrode contact area. This is useful when a user wants to test a specific board, component or section of timber rather than scan a broad surface with a pinless sensor.

Wood Species Calibration

Different wood species have different electrical characteristics, which can affect pin-meter readings. The TimberMaster addresses this with wood calibration scales managed through the Protimeter Connect app.

Users can choose from approximately 150 timber species calibrations in the app and keep 10 preferred calibrations available on the meter. This is a valuable feature for professionals who work with multiple hardwood and softwood species and want a more disciplined measurement workflow.

Useful for Hardwood Flooring and Woodworking

For hardwood flooring, moisture measurements can help compare boards before installation and identify material that differs significantly from the rest of a batch. The same principle applies in woodworking when timber is being prepared for machining, assembly, finishing or storage.

The TimberMaster’s wood-focused design makes it better suited to these jobs than a general building scanner, particularly when species correction and direct pin readings are important.

Bluetooth Logging with Protimeter Connect

The current BLD5675 includes Bluetooth connectivity to the Protimeter Connect app. Readings can be downloaded and saved with time and date information, making it easier to maintain records for quality control or repeated measurements.

For larger projects, this can help document which readings were taken and reduce reliance on handwritten notes. The app is also used to select and manage timber-species calibrations.

Calibration Checks and Optional Accessories

The meter includes built-in and automatic calibration checks, with the current model performing periodic recalibration checks during use. An auxiliary connector supports optional accessories such as hammer electrodes for measurements deeper inside timber.

The standard built-in pins reach approximately 10 mm, while an optional hammer electrode can be useful when the measurement needs to be taken below the immediate surface of thicker wood.

A Specialist Moisture Meter for Timber Work

The Protimeter TimberMaster is not intended to be a universal moisture detector for every building material. Its strength is specialization: direct wood moisture measurement, species calibration, Bluetooth records and support for professional timber accessories.

For users who work primarily with wood, hardwood flooring or timber quality control, that focused feature set can be more useful than a broader building meter. For drywall, masonry or non-destructive finished-floor scanning, another meter type is the better fit.
